In this novel we learned about Paris in the 1930s. For example, at the time they only invented black and white movies. We learned that they were silent films. Back then movies were not in color because the technology was different.
The most important things that I learned while reading Hugo Cabret were that clock makers were first magian"s, that there was no sound in the movies. Films were silent. I noticed that Mrs. Green took a serve and asked "Does anyone know what a automaton is". No one raised there hand. I now know that a automaton is a mechanical man is. Also I learned that times have changed since the 1930's. Now a days it's a whole lot diffrent because for sure they wouldv'e caught Hugo with no parents now a days. Finally I shouldve said this before, but movies are also black and white back then.
I love this novel! I learned that clock makers were once magicians.I learned that automatons are mechanical men. I learned that automatons were used by magicians in their shows.
I loved learning about old movies. I had never seen "Trip to the Moon". It was confusing at first because there were no words. But after a few seconds I started to understand what was going on. They looked like magicians.
One thing that I learned was that the first clock makers were like magicians. That was interesting. I also learned about automatons. I would like to see one in real life. We have looked at them online so far.
