In Chapter 2, The Clocks, we learn a lot about Hugo and what he does everyday with them. In Chapter 3, the reader is provided with more information about the old man and some more about Hugo. The questions for this post are as follows:
- How would you describe Hugo to someone that has never read the story?
- Now, do the same thing for the old man, what is he like?
Happy reading,
Mr. Wittmer
hugo is a kid that has a note book and a old man wants the note book for some reason grumpy and mean
ReplyDeletedear class 1.I would say Hugo is a yong boy how steals from a toy both and fixes clocks2.The old man is mean to hugo and stole his note book.
ReplyDeleteTimmy,PA
I would say hugo is a boy who is making an invention and needs his note book to make it but the old man has his note book. the old man knows that hugo is the thief of toys when hugo is not. so the old man took back the toys and his notebook.

hi
ReplyDeleteNathan_PA Dear,studio 213
ReplyDeleteHugo is a sneaky boy who fixes the clock/and changes the time.
The old man is a grumpy guy who is grumpy because hugo steals his toys at the toy stand.
Dear Hugo Readers,
ReplyDeleteI would explain the book by saying that Hugo is a young boy that has a notebook and an old man stole it and Hugo is trying to get it back from the old man. The old man is a grumpy fellow who stole Hugo's notebook and won't give it back. Also, the old man owns a toy store.

Dear Hugo Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI would describe Hugo as a mysterious boy. Also a very independent person. I think this because he appears to not really enjoy other people and is not willing to share anything with other people. To me the old man is very quite, mean, and rude. I think this way because he took Hugo's notebook, and he doesn't share things with the world. Maddy_PA
I think the old man is a thief because he is acting very suspiciouse like he wants something thats Hugos

dear book bloggers,I think hugo is sneaky because he steals toys from the old man.I think the old man is grumpy because he is always mean to Hugo. IsaiahPA
ReplyDeleteDear Hugo Bloggers,
ReplyDeleteI think Hugo is very sneaky because he went into the clock without anyone knowing, and he also was trying to steal a toy from the toy booth when the old man wasn't looking. I think the Old man is mean because he took Hugo's notebook and said he would burn it and he was yelling at this girl that he looked like he was related to,he also was telling Hugo to be quite with his shoes because they were making a sound that he didn't like that sound. The old man was mean at the part because he slammed the door on Hugo's face and that was being just plain rude. The old man was also threatening Hugo by saying "I will put you in the jail cell if I see you again." Dear Hugo book bloggers,
ReplyDeleteHugo is an independent person and hes also mysterious. The old man seems very grumpy and mean. It doesn't seem like he is very good with kids. He seems like the type of person that needs everything to be perfect too.

i would describe hugo as a curious sneaky boy with a notebook and i would describe the old man as a grumpy mean person who is sometimes nice
ReplyDeleteHugo:
ReplyDelete- he's a quiet, poor boy
- he alone (no family, lives alone in the walls of a train station)
- doesn't seem to have any friends
- he's a sneaky mischievous child (steals toys, hides behind walls and looks through clock faces)
- mysterious & clever: he knows how to live alone, to survive; he is a survivor
- strong & responsible (survives alone & cleans the clocks)
The Old Man:
- mysterious - suspicious of people - rude (speaks to Hugo in a mean & impolite way) - strict & mean (grabs Hugo by the arm (hurts him), doesn't let Hugo do anything until he gets some answers) - curious - secretive - selfish (he keeps Hugo's book for himself)- needy (for something important)
